Walker has delivered the AUD$280 million Headquarters for the Federal Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) in Canberra. The building houses 40,000sqm NLA of commercial space and was completed in mid 2010.
The building has achieved a 6 Green Star Rating and is one of Canberra’s most significant commercial developments. The A-Grade building features premium grade services and large 3,600sqm floor plates. The building was developed by Walker, and the company also delivered a $40million fitout for the premises.
The building was designed by May & Russell Architects of Canberra and the workplace design interiors by Woodhead International. Umow Lai and Associates have specified a bio-filtration wall which is like a “living wall” covered with specially selected plants to act as a natural filter for indoor air, removing airborne contaminants. The building has created a highly productive, healthy workplace for the DEEWR team.
