The Broadway Shopping Centre is another
example of where Lang Walker saw the potential in a disused site
and having acquired the old Grace Bros building on Broadway, Lang
used
the existing structure to create a unique
retail and entertainment centre.
The shopping centre came at a time when Sydney’s growing
inner-west population were underserved in the shopping and entertainment
areas. It is now a thriving community with Broadway Shopping Centre
and university housing projects close by.
The shopping centre boasts a lettable area of 43,000m2. Services
include two major supermarkets, Coles and BiLo, KMart, Rebel Sport,
Dymocks Booksellers, Harvey Norman, Harris Farm Markets and over
125 specialty stores. Other entertainment features of the centre
include a 500 seat 'Stars on Broadway' Food Court and a 12 screen
Hoyts cinema.
The Broadway Shopping Centre is open 7 days a week.
This shopping centre was developed by Walker Corporation and, since January 2007, has been owned and operated by Mirvac Limited.
