Hundreds of new jobs in first Walker premium office tower on Sunshine Coast
Construction has begun on Walker Corporation’s first Premium A-Grade commercial office tower on the Sunshine Coast, in the Maroochydore City Centre.
50 First Avenue by Walker, raises the bar on design and functionality and is already on the radar for many big Australian companies looking to tap into the talent on the Sunshine Coast, with over 800 jobs earmarked for the tower’s 15 floors.
Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles said construction is powering ahead at Maroochydore City Centre.
“The Sunshine Coast is one of the fastest growing regions and developing economies in the country,” Mr Miles said.
“People are moving to the Sunshine Coast in droves thanks to the employment opportunities and great lifestyle.
“Maroochydore is the major economic hub of the Sunshine Coast and the Queensland Government will continue to support the delivery of this new city centre providing economic development and much needed infrastructure.
Walker Corporation Chief Executive Officer David Gallant said 50 First Avenue will build on the growing sophistication of the Maroochydore City Centre.

“50 First Avenue symbolises our placemaking vision with our project partners, SunCentral and Sunshine Coast Council to create a dynamic, vibrant and active location where people love to work, live and socialise.”
Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Mark Jamieson welcomed the start of construction of what will be the newest neighbour to the state-of-the-art Sunshine Coast City Hall.
“50 First Avenue will introduce a next level standard of commercial office accommodation to the Maroochydore City Centre with outstanding sustainability credentials to match,” Mayor Jamieson said.
“Our development partner Walker has a proven track record in delivering outstanding precincts such as Parramatta Square and Collins Square and we look forward to seeing the completion of the first of many premium commercial projects in the Maroochydore City Centre.”
50 First Avenue will feature a grand lobby space with soaring ceilings, concierge and café with a panoramic rooftop providing stunning views of the beach and the hinterland.
The prime tower offers Premium A Grade office space with some of Maroochydore’s largest floors, measuring greater than 1000 sqm per level.
SunCentral Chair Morgan Parker said 50 First Avenue will add another dimension of class to the Sunshine Coast.
“Maroochydore City Centre continues to grow rapidly as our region’s central hub for commerce, technology and innovation and spectacular buildings like 50 First Avenue will become the benchmark for our future success,” Mr Parker said.
50 First Avenue will take advantage of the new high-speed submarine cable giving businesses in the Maroochydore CBD an unrivalled advantage of some of the fastest data rates in the world.
Sustainability is at the forefront of all Walker buildings and 50 First Avenue will be built to achieve a NABER's 5-star energy rating.
The building will provide tenants with first class end-of-trip facilities including bike storage, showers, amenities, and lockers.
The Maroochydore City Centre project serves as a significant opportunity for companies to relocate and grow in an outstanding lifestyle region within Australia’s Sunshine Coast, with the Priority Development Area delivering 240,000 square metres of commercial and retail space.
The 53-hectare city is just minutes from the beach, creating the optimal location for a relaxed and balanced lifestyle. Maroochydore will also include large open spaces with bike and walking tracks surrounding lakes and parks.
The Maroochydore City Centre Priority Development Area is being delivered through a partnership between Sunshine Coast Council, Walker Maroochydore Developments Pty Ltd and SunCentral Maroochydore Pty Ltd. The agreement will see over $2.5 billion of private sector investment flow into the project over the coming decade.
