It’s a whole new world at Riverlea

With over 1100 blocks sold since opening, there continues to be strong demand from families looking to secure a home in South Australia’s fastest growing and largest masterplanned community, Riverlea.

SA Minister for Housing and Urban Development Nick Champion said the project highlighted the confidence homebuilders had in the South Australian housing industry.

“These are the sorts of projects that help boost housing supply and give South Australians more opportunities to realise their dream of owning a home,” he said.

“We are working on a plan to make it easier for South Australians to get into housing and this work in Riverlea is a great example of the benefits – for both builders and buyers – that can arise from investing in these types of developments.”

Housing Industry Association (HIA) SA executive director Stephen Knight said Riverlea is bringing quality and affordable homes to market while boosting the economy.

“Projects like Riverlea provide confidence that there is a long steady pipeline of work ahead, which stimulates the local economy and creates jobs giving more South Australian families the opportunity to step onto the property ladder,” said Mr Knight.

Walker Executive Chairman Lang Walker AO said the opening of Riverlea Display World is a major milestone for his team and building partners, acting as a ‘one-stop shop’ for the project as they bring 12,000 homes to market over the next 15 years.

“The display village gives house hunters great inspiration across all price points for their future home at Riverlea and allows them to connect directly with leading Australian builders to ensure a tailor-made experience,” said Mr Walker.

“Buying a block of land without seeing a finished product can be daunting, especially for first home buyers. We’re glad to give people the opportunity to bring their families down for a look at different houses showing the latest in innovative construction and design.”

“We’ve always seen the potential here and the display village opening is a significant milestone that will help future residents see it too,” he added.

Playford City Council Mayor Glenn Docherty says it’s an exciting new chapter for the region that will attract families from all over Adelaide. 

“The display village helps people visualise what their life in Northern Adelaide will look like, surrounded by recreation and amenities just 25 minutes’ drive from the CBD,” Mr Docherty said.

Adelaide’s northern suburbs are leading the way in new residential builds, with The City of Playford flagged as the fastest-growing Local Government Area in South Australia.

Riverlea’s range of quality, affordable living solutions has seen an overwhelming response from young couples and families looking to combine the benefits of suburban living with the lifestyle opportunities and connectivity found in the best city fringe neighbourhoods.

Nicole Sabatini said moving into their large family home with her husband and four kids has been a dream come true.

“Riverlea has something for families at every stage of life which really helps us see ourselves here long term. We were blown away by what we got for the price and have been so impressed with everything that we convinced my Mum and some of our friends to move here too,” said Ms Sabatini.

“The wellness and recreational opportunities were also a big drawcard for us. I am so excited to bring together this already close-knit community by launching Riverlea’s first outdoor fitness classes, where residents can meet and exercise together on Saturday mornings” she added.

The display village opening follows the recent commencement of excavation works for the new $80 million Palms Shopping Village, Riverlea’s first retail centre. In 2021 Walker announced it was expediting construction in response to surging sales, with the project on track to open in early 2024.

Additionally, Walker has invested over $50 million in prestigious entry lakes, pedestrian pathways and landscaping, including hundreds of palm trees, over 40,000 plants, and 70,000m2 of turf - the equivalent of four Adelaide ovals.

Walker’s masterplan, which will eventually be home to a community of 40,000, is constantly evolving to include a suite of first-class lifestyle amenities for residents spanning retail, supermarkets, recreation and wellness, as well as four state schools catering to students from kindergarten to Year 12.
