Local tradies sign up to build SOL by Walker on the Sunshine Coast
Sunshine Coast tradies have more work on the way in the booming Maroochydore City Centre after one of Australia’s oldest builders, Paynter Dixon was announced as major construction contractor for the SOL by Walker residences.
2,000 local jobs will be created during the construction of the first 19-storey tower featuring 111 premium residences with spectacular views across the coast and hinterland, luxurious wellness resort-style amenities, and direct access to the thriving retail, dining, and green spaces of the Maroochydore City Centre.
Paynter Dixon CEO James Boyd said his company has been delivering projects across Australia for over a century and is excited to bring its experience and proven quality to the Sunshine Coast.
“SOL by Walker is an exciting opportunity to create high-quality homes within a vibrant city centre, while generating significant local employment,” Mr Boyd said.
“It also strengthens our multi-state partnership with Walker, delivering developments that set new benchmarks for quality and design.”

“For more than 110 years, Paynter Dixon has delivered landmark projects across Australia, and we’re proud to now bring our expertise in premium residential and mixed-use construction to the Sunshine Coast.”
Paynter Dixon Senior Project Engineer Amberlie Andrejic said the Maroochydore City Centre is giving local construction workers incredible opportunities close to home.

“There are so many of us who love being a part of the team on large scale projects like SOL but usually we are having to travel to Brisbane for those and spend two hours each way stuck in traffic on the Bruce Highway,” said Mrs Andrejic.
“I loved my two years working on Walker Corporation’s 50 First Avenue commercial tower across the road from the SOL development in the Maroochydore City Centre. That’s what’s really exciting about this precinct, there are so many more large-scale projects on the way being delivered by experienced national construction companies, giving engineers like me and local trades a strong pipeline of work here on the Coast.”

Mayor Rosanna Natoli said this announcement signals strong confidence in the future of the Sunshine Coast economy.
“Each new project in the Maroochydore City Centre helps local trades, engineers and suppliers grow, while bringing more customers through the doors of surrounding cafés, retailers and service providers,”
“Together, we’re building a city where people can live, work and raise families close to home, giving Sunshine Coast residents access to the same opportunities as Australia’s major capitals.”

Walker Corporation’s Group Executive of Development Peter Saba said Paynter Dixon has the expertise to deliver the company’s vision of premium apartment living on the Sunshine Coast.
“Paynter Dixon’s performance on our new Riverlea Retail Shopping Village has been excellent, so it was the right decision for us to secure them for the SOL Development in the Maroochydore City Centre,” Mr Saba said.
“SOL by Walker is being delivered at a time of growing excitement around the Maroochydore City Centre and broader investment across the Sunshine Coast which is one of Australia’s strongest economies, surrounded by great hospitality and services, and just minutes from the beach.”
Contractor Delta Group completed the site establishment and bulk earthworks last month for the flagship residential project which is now over 90% sold for the first tower.
The Sunshine Coast residential markets is one of the tightest held in Australia with new stock being snapped up quickly. The billions of dollars in infrastructure spend from State and Federal Governments ahead of the 2032 Olympics, is also helping to drive buyer enquiry, with South East Queensland families looking for long term connectivity and amenity options. KPMG economic estimates show the Olympic Games could generate $4.6bn in economic development, $3.5bn in social benefit and 91,600 jobs in Queensland.

SOL residents will nearly double the current CBD population, playing a vital role in shaping a vibrant, inclusive community as the city continues to grow over the coming years.
Walker will soon unveil The Penthouse Collection comprising a limited series of sky homes offering panoramic views across the ocean, hinterland and city skyline.
SOL is proudly developed by Walker who are delivering the Maroochydore City Centre in partnership with Sunshine Coast Council and SunCentral.
