Riverlea’s first food festival a recipe for success
2025 MasterChef winner and Adelaide restaurateur Laura Sharrad was the star attraction at the Riverlea Food Festival drawing huge audiences from all over Adelaide, to her two live cooking demonstrations.

Over one thousand people visited the fastest growing masterplanned community in SA transforming one of its main streets, Milner Place, into a hub of flavours, music and family fun.
Crowds sampled global street food, browsed local stalls and enjoyed free kids’ cooking classes, with live music and activities keeping the atmosphere buzzing throughout the afternoon

“Food has a way of bringing people together, and the Riverlea Food Festival was a great day out with the whole family.”
Festival highlights included balloon animals and ice-cream for the kids, fruit giveaways from Pick a Local, Pick SA, and the chance to win a premium dining experience at Sharrad’s restaurant Fugazzi.
Riverlea Community Engagement Officer Michaela Keirl said the overwhelming response reflected the spirit of the growing community.

“We wanted to create a day where everyone could enjoy themselves, whether they came for Laura’s cooking or to try some of the many cuisines of our residents, and the response was incredible,” she said.
The successful debut has laid the foundations for the Riverlea Food Festival to become a regular fixture on Adelaide’s community calendar.
“Our team is already planning for how we can make next years’ event even bigger,” Ms Keirl said.
